Ross Memorial is a 100-bed Long Term Care and Short-Term Rehab facility located in the historical city of Kennesaw Georgia. We provide Skilled Nursing services 24 hours a day for a wide variety of patients needing supervised nursing care and rehabilitation services. I am currently a resident at Ross Memorial for short-term rehabilitation due to a hip fracture. This initial evaluation will be followed up as my time here (estimated to be 6-8 weeks) continues.As with any business there will be “bumps”. Anyone who expects perfection lives in an alternate universe. The “bump” solvers in my case have been the dynamic Concierge ladies, Ashley and Darlene. Ashley earns 10 stars from me. From day 1 she has solved roommate mismatches, medication issues, kitchen issues and TV noise negotiations. Both ladies are extremely pleasant and exhibit a gold standard in willingness to help.The on-call doctors earn 5 stars. They care and listen very intently to concerns and requests while on their on-site rounds. They have followed up on questions. Always open to contact even though they are off-site.The food here is first rate with a Southern flair. There is a lunch and dinner selection with a variety of options. Breakfast s served without resident requests. Portions are filling and a request for double portions is available. My favorites to date have been sweet tea, fried okra, biscuits and gravy, chef salad, cheeseburger (real meat!), BBQ pork and beef tips with mushroom gravy over rice. The head of the kitchen makes the effort to see each resident on their first day to explain how the menu works and provides a list of the offerings that one can deselect from being served (like pickled beets in my case). She is very energetic and proud of having worked here 38 years.PT/OT is a little choppy to date so it is premature to rate at this time after only a week.Showers are twice a week but it seems to be a first come first served on resident assigned days. Last shower was not a favorable experience and hoping tomorrow will be better.More to come!Update #1 as promised. (04/03/2024)The food here continues to be fantastic. So many delicious meals. Deanna and her staff are amazing.The staff here is top notch and maintain a positive attitude despite being understaffed. Numerous daily “All hands on deck” calls over the intercom is proof enough of that observation. That said I will also observe that a few employees do seem to cause problems with their need to cause drama for patients and other staff. They would do well to be encouraged to move onto another location and career.I want to give kudos to the staff that Ross Memorial that have provided over the top positive care experiences to date.- Ashley in Concierge. Solves problems within the confines of some poor management policies. Always responsive with a positive attitude and a smile.- My “Dream Team” CNAs: Vera and Morgan. Vera is a bundle of positive energy, caring provider and overall outstanding person. Goes out of her way to provide excellent care. Morgan helped me keep my sanity when I was placed with a highly objectionable roommate. Her sense of humor, sarcasm and acute ability to see/state the obvious earns her top ratings from me. There are other CNAs who have provided great care.- Ellen, Priscilla and Al in Rehab. Positive providers working in less than desirable understaffed working conditions/facilities. My reason for being here is short term rehab and I am disappointed. Would only rate rehab as a three because of these outstanding employees. Al is also the de facto cheerleader trying to get residents out of their rooms and taking part in the group activities (especially his yoga class).- Star in Transportation is just one of the nicest people one would ever wish to meet. Care and safety are her number one priorities. Feel secure in the knowledge that residents are taken to appointments with the utmost care.More to come!
